The Brief

Our main brief was to create more storage, worktop space & find a home for a fridge freezer in the kitchen. Due to the existing kitchen layout, there were areas that were not easy to reach, so made getting accurate measurements tricky. The Chimney breast was expensive to remove altogether due to it being a supporting wall and other issues. Now we were left with a big question…. Where to put the fridge freezer ???

The wish list

  • Shaker style in dark blue
  • Solid oak worktop
  • Tall integrated fridge freezer
  • Boiler housing
  • More storage
  • Breakfast bar area.

The Design & features

The design changed a few times, mainly the colour but also to find a suitable place for the Fridge/freezer. The final design was to knock a hole in the chimney breast (as much as possible) so we could fit the fridge freezer and a larder unit. To keep cost down we opted for a wood effect laminate worktop.

To maximise the space we had, we incorporated a large corner units, deep pan drawers tall wall units and even a drawer below the built under oven for baking trays.
